I can’t reactivate the child theme and get this message:

Notice: add_utility_page is deprecated since version 4.5! Use add_menu_page() instead. in /var/sites/m/mrsfrisbeesallnaturals.com/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3658

    Nearly there.

I’m following the instructions on the link and got to the step where it asks to delete the Atelier parent theme. However, I have this error message:

‘Notice: add_utility_page is deprecated since version 4.5! Use add_menu_page() instead. in /var/sites/m/mrsfrisbeesallnaturals.com/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3658
    Cheating, are we?
The requested theme does not exist.’

Earlier this week I tried to change the line on the functions.php file, but couldn’t find ‘add_utility_page’ (I copied and pasted the whole text file into Word and searched for it).

So at the moment I can’t delete the Atelier parent theme.

    Thanks, Rui.

It doesn’t say anything about an update in Appearance/Themes.

I’ve downloaded the zip file. How do I now update the parent theme? Do I need to activate it first? In which case, presumably I should put the website in Maintenance Mode whilst I do that?

Also, I have two Atelier licences, for two very similar sites (.com and .co.uk, trade and retail). Can I use the same zip file to update the parent themes on the two different websites?

I received an email this afternoon from Envato about the theme update. I downloaded the zip file and tried to install it but got the error message: ‘Unpacking the package…

    Installing the plugin…

The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.

    Plugin install failed.’

The name of the file was: themeforest-11118909-atelier-creative-multipurpose-ecommerce-theme-wordpress-theme.zip

    That’s brilliant, David – thanks.

It works great on http://www.mrsfrisbeesallnaturals.co.uk, but on http://www.mrsfrisbeesallnaturals.com, we get the attached, whereby it says ‘Showing all x products’, but it doesn’t actually show them.

At the moment the search can be set to either ‘All’ or ‘Products’. However, I wanted something in between, that showed basically everything except posts. Is there a suitable plugin that does that?

Also, I have this message: “Your theme (Atelier Child Theme) contains outdated copies of some WooCommerce template files. These files may need updating to ensure they are compatible with the current version of WooCommerce. You can see which files are affected from the system status page. If in doubt, check with the author of the theme.” Then “atelier/woocommerce/order/order-details.php version 2.5.0 is out of date. The core version is 2.5.3”

In the Atelier parent theme, the version is 2.5.0. This file doesn’t even exist in the child theme.

How do I update the order-details.php version to 2.5.3? How do I actually get the file?

I’m using an Atelier child theme.

Today I updated the parent theme to 1.9.6, but will that make any difference to the child theme?

Is there any point in updating the parent theme when using a child theme?

Thanks, Rui – I’ll add that plug in.

    Thanks, Rui.

I could upload files but not a folder, so I did a workaround. I created a folder in wp-content/themes, copied the current Atelier folder into it and then updated the theme as normal, via WordPress.

    Rui,

I can’t remember what modifications we made before we realised that we need to use a child theme.

Presumably we can update the theme and if we lose some of the changes, we can revert to the old theme?

Is there a failsafe way of checking the changes before updating?

Same for me – I have 1.67 installed and I was going to update to 1.74.

I have a child theme installed and I got this message when I tried to update the parent theme: ‘Any customisations you have made to theme files will be lost. Are you sure you would like to update?’

    Ed,

When I load the saved template, you can see it in the backend, but it was a different template when I viewed the page.

In the end I worked around it by using the duplicate-post plugin that Rui recommended.

    Thanks, David.

Glad it was something straightforward and simple.

I’ve made a draft of a page and edited it.

By default the URL was https://mrsfrisbeesallnaturals.com/private-label, as the name of the page was Private Label.

However, I wanted the original URL, which was https://mrsfrisbeesallnaturals.com/private-label-aromatherapy-products

I edited the permalink to https://mrsfrisbeesallnaturals.com/private-label-aromatherapy-products, but it defaulted to https://mrsfrisbeesallnaturals.com/private-label-aromatherapy-products-2, as the original page was still in place, so I deleted the original, but still I couldn’t change the URL to private-label-aromatherapy-products.

It is as if the URL private-label-aromatherapy-products is still in the database somewhere, although the page itself has been deleted.

I realise I can call the page something similar, so long as it is unique on my site, but I want to know how to revert to the original URL.

The same has happened with the homepage, which is now ‘home-3’, although there isn’t a ‘home-2’ or ‘home’.

Something strange is happening with my saved templates. I’ve saved a page, so that I could work on it and redesign the layout on a test page.

I’ve made a new test page, opened the saved template, after which I can see it in the Swift Page Builder, then I updated the page, viewed the page – and it’s a completely different template!
