I went back starting from the top, and took each one, one by one out of the category. I checked and seen after each removal if it would display. I got all the way to the bottom of my list and none of them displayed. I now have everything unchecked. except for one, so I could check the last one- I had to put a portfolio back into the category in order to have something to check against. Why when all the portfolios are in the category and you display all categories on the page, does it show all my portfolio images, but when I just pick that category non of my images show up? If it had to do with one of the portfolios in the category being screwed up, when I removed the portfolios one by one, then eventually I would have come to the culprot. I did not. I am going to go back and re-check all the portfolios to go back into the category again. There has to be a different reason these are not showing up. Even if it was a thumbnail problem, by eliminating portfolios and checking to see if the homepage displayed one by one, I should have found which portfolio was the problem.
So, I need to essentially remove and start over going backwards? I do not understand th link you sent. It goes to posts and there are none. What do you mean I need to set the thumbnail image to each portfolio? I am not understanding your instructions. Thanks.

Sorry this showed up here. This was supposed to go on my post.
I tried everything with this plugin to get it to work. I kept getting 404 errors when viewing the portfolio items. I finally deactivated the plugin and got another one. It works fine now. I still do not know why you need a plugin to edit a permalink. That, I would have thought would be something to be able to do right through the theme.
I am not an administrator, but did you install the demo? If you do that, it shows you how to use the portfolio and all you have to do is more or less copy the things you need checked off for the way you want it to display and use your own images. And when you are done, you delete their portfolio items.
Wait, I just clicked through and my website now has broken links and 404 errors. I was happy that I could edit the permalinks, but I just clicked on my portfolio items and they do not go anywhere. What do I do now?
This worked perfectly. I thought there was way to fix it within the theme itself that I was doing wrong. Thanks.
The only thing is, I have all of my videos set NOT to suggest other videos after they are done playing on Youtube. This only works with an embed code. Now I have stills from about 20 videos from people I do not even know, showing up after my video is finished playing. I do not want that. Why use a URL?
This is crazy. I did this first last night and it did not work. Then I used the embed code and that didn’t work either. You sure you didn’t do anything to it to make it work today? 🙂
Now there is a strange url error message on my portfolio homepage.

You must be logged in to view attached files.Fortunately for me, my web host backed it up and restored it. I learned my lesson. I am having a terrible time with the contact form, but that is a plugin. But, thank goodness I only lost one portfolio of 6 images tonight and hadn’t been working on it long enough to be effected by going back to the backup. Everything is solved.
I can’t get it in Chrome, but I got it to work in Firefox. Shouldn’t it work in all browsers? I was using Safari just fine and then it stopped.
Ok, I tried on a different computer and with chrome. I also called my web host and they told me they could not get it to load, either. If I go to http://www.kellyannraverdesign.com/wp I get a message that the site is under construction. But, if I go to kellyannraverdesign.com/wp/wp-admin, and go to visit site, all we get is a spinning wheel. This is not just on my computer.
