Thank you! That worked. π
Oops. That code you gave me fixed the blog page but it is still misaligned in the blog post item on the home page. Sorry, I hadn’t realized that when I made the original request. How do I fix that?
Yes, hi David.
I should have mentioned (I did in a different post) that I had done the update to the theme and it messed so many things up I quickly uploaded the older version again! All of a sudden, full width text blocks were no longer full width, the text inside those text blocks looked wrong (the spacing was all off), and I panicked before I waited around to see what else was changed because my home page looked so bad!
No, I have not changed any theme files. I know better than to do that. π (But what I don’t know is if I have inadvertently put something in my child theme that is a problem.)
Thank you for the quick fix in the meantime. I’m not really sure what to do about updating. I don’t want to wreck my site again. Do you have any suggestion for me?
Thanks!!!
June 29, 2015 at 5:25 pm in reply to: too much space after "paragraphs" in blog post and theme update problems #189867Thank you so much. I don’t understand why a full width text block would have different paragraph formatting, but I also hadn’t noticed that I used that instead of a regular text block.
Regarding the updating problems, I agree, but this is why I don’t understand why updating seems to cause so many problems. For example, why would the full-width text block suddenly NOT be full-width anymore? And why would the text inside it be so dramatically changed?
Thanks!
I was just helping a friend with starting a WordPress site (the blind leading the blind) and her theme has video tutorials sprinkled throughout on the pages when you are building them. It is very useful, and she is thrilled!
Plus, they have extensive theme documentation, both written and videos.
I love yourΒ theme, and the support is great, but the documentation is not your best asset.
Thanks, Kyle! I really appreciate the support. π

1. I think you give me way too much credit with the media query thing. When I start to scale down a browser window, I see the point at which it “breaks”, but I have no idea how to determine what size that is. Or exactly how I would word it in the code.
All I want is for the image of the dogs to appear to be sitting right on top of the blue full width text block.

2. I don’t see where I’ve added the blank text boxes. ? The white section in question has the setup you see below. I used shortcode to divide the full width text block into thirds. I only wanted content in the middle third. So I left the outer 1/3 sections blank. But it leaves a huge amount of space at the top and the bottom of the section.
Is that wrong? If that is wrong, can you tell me how to do it better? Or can you be more specific about where I’ve added a blank text box?
[one_third]
[/one_third]
[one_third]
The content is here.
[/one_third]
[one_third_last][/one_third_last]
3. Thanks for pointing that out. I couldn’t get it to behave so I added some top padding for lack of a better solution.
Thanks!
Thanks. I’ve checked it over and over and tried so many things. If I figure it out, I’ll post it here in case it might help someone else searching the forum. Thanks again.
Oh! That is helpful. It must mean I only see it on Safari and Chrome because it’s loaded on my device. Not sure about Firefox.
Thanks. I must have something wrong somewhere. π π π
I’m baffled. See the screenshots? Which version are you seeing?
And on my mobile devices I see the “firefox” version (which is wrong). Any idea what could be causing that? And if you see it correctly, why don’t I?

I didn’t know enough to even realize there was a blank image there. Deleted and re-uploaded and it worked like a charm.
Also didn’t realize I had to place a custom excerpt in the blog page.
Now I’m all set. Thank you so much!
Oops. Here is the screenshot.

Thank you very much. (I don’t understand why custom code is necessary for a first-time post to work properly but at least it’s working now.)

May I ask one more question? Please notice in the screenshot how the featured image is too big for the page. It is spilling out of the div.
I’m confused. The div is 1170px, and the image I used is only 1024px. But when I look at it with developer tools it has been enlarged to be 1170px, which appears to make it too big for the container. What am I doing incorrectly? I used the “featured image” option. It seems like that option made the image too big. ???
Thanks again for all of your great help!
