Hi David,
This client is unwilling to test on another theme at this time, as she has not paid Siteground for a dedicated test/staging area — ie, live and test are the same — and is concerned that switching to another theme might ruin her current interface in some way that would cost her to rebuild.
By the same token, she is reluctant to update to the latest Atelier 1.72 for fear that something will break — the client is about to start uploading many more products on her catalog (since she has increased confidence in Atelier), which would take her past the point of no return in terms of the GO/NO GO decision as to switching to another theme if necessary.
Thank you for looking into this, though.
I will view this on a mobile device, and see if the same results persists in that env. Hopefully, not.Cheers,
Alii think i saw a plugin (third party if i remember) for deleting tags but i think it costs will look into this again. deffo not out of the box. the very good news is you can canonical product categories and supplementary tags that further refine product grouping. that was a big win.
cheers

no problem, not crucial. i will just fiddle with set up two onclick event listeners in js which will more likely than not do the job without having to go the Minnesota route. 😉
thx

hi kyle
no problem. i will play around with it and see if i can write the css that does the job.
obviously my client would want to know which product drew the user’s attention during slide auto refresh
for the time being i will disable the autocycle feature entirelythx

This reply has been marked as private.my initial assessment was completely wrong. you can create product categories, per some canonical taxonomy. (say Dog or Cat widget).
you can also add tags (say, On Sale, or, Just In) that are semantically orthogonal.
You can then create a Menu option using a tag which will result in a page that consists of products with that tag.
This is done for you automatically, as it were, on a custom product list page.
You can also create a slideshow that has only items that comprise a particular tag universe. (all on sale products, for eg)
The only bummer is you cannot delete tags easily, so you have to be careful when inputting them, or deal with the complexities of deleting them using php.
maybe i will write a second plug in for that one of these days.cheers

fixed.
Most of this has been fixed. Quickview not part of launch as it brings no value to this particular site.
this has been fixed, in the sense that i finally figured out the correct way to create a slideshow using Atelier.
this has been fixed.
September 1, 2015 at 3:08 pm in reply to: no way for end users to change woocommerce canned messages #209248Sorry bout that. Solution: I’ve decided to learn basic PHP and write a non commercial plugin that does this on my site.

September 1, 2015 at 11:34 am in reply to: continue shopping button to return to original page in shop #209118sorry the prose above is a little disconnected – i wrote a duplicate function to handle when you return to the referrer page when the cart is empty and you click the return to shop button. however, the classes i see associated with this button are not being listened to or picked up by the event handling. not sure why. will investigate later.

well, my understanding of the js browser disable is (my source is smashing magazine) that very few people do that anymore.
i know i dont, though i used to 10 years ago.re this little js function, but not on class “return-to-shop” or class “wc-backward” — if you have an empty cart, and then with to simply go back to where you were, it would be nice if the return to shop to you back the same way via referrer
for some reason, this does not work (ie create a new function to handle that)
re php obviously a new version is coming out in a month or two, maybe i should spend a few hours an evening learning it, and then maybe try to write a plug in such as one to customize comments or notices. might be worth it, though i am not a fan of languages that ignore the separation of concerns in the MVC model — if I understand php correctly, which obviously not knowing it, i don’t really.
another thing php would be useful for is having the ability to create a special “insurance fee” for products over $100 that would be applied automatically as a line item, currently i cannot do that. (my client is already baking in the cost for 0 tax for out of shipping — per current florida law — tax and free shipping) some of her items costs hundreds of dollars, and insurance is reqired for such items.
cheers,
ali
