Sorry, I am still a novice and a little out of my depth here. Will probably find a developer i can pay to help me resolve unless this is straightforward and something your guys can help me accomplish.
So will this work with LinkedIn share as well?
Hi Ed,
I have no idea what changed or when but at some point had all of those links working correctly as I described above (e.g. if i shared a solution on linkedin the correct image came up). I am not sure exactly how to use the plugin — will it integrate with the current look and feel of the existing buttons?
Thanks for resolving the email link issue.
Bill
This reply has been marked as private.Hi Ed,
Certainly would like to have these buttons function like in the previous version of the theme and not use open graph tags.
We did a lot of work to get these where we want them and your guys had previously resolved all those issues for everyone using these in previous updates (not sure why they reverted in this latest version). I am certain that anyone using social share buttons like mine is going to be experiencing all the same issues.
The social are just pulling the wrong items but i have no idea where to make the changes to ‘re-correct’ this.
Can one of your developers have a look? I am running out of hours to dedicate to this and really just want my site back up and running like it was prior to the last update.
Bill
Ok, appears to be working for the moment at least. I’m clearing my cache in chrome every time and using incognito windows. I’m wondering if somehow there is still a cache that is getting autosaved over my good code. Regardless, hope it sticks this time.
Now my remaining issues are tied to the social share buttons not functioning properly.
See: http://www.lpanalyst.com/solutions/lp-diligence-pack/
1) LinkedIn – Now pulls wrong or multiple images
2) Twitter – OK
3) Google + – Should be using thumbnail image (tile) not post detail image (banner)
4) Facebook – Now pulls wrong image
5) Email – Not even close; Should pull same title and body text as social networks above as subject line and body respectively and also have the link to the page in the email body (not the subject line)
Ed,
I am at the end of my rope here. I have spent 5 hours this afternoon making my changes to my singleportfoliophp and singlepostphp to re-order the social share. I have done this 10x over and it fixes and then within minutes reverts back to the old order. So for instance, i make the adjustments in singleportfoliophp, save them, test them and they worked, then click away, come back to singleportfoliophp and all my custom code is gone. This is not a caching issue.
I am confused, tired and absolutely losing my mind over this. Even the custom code you gave me to remove the portfolio advance button works and then doesn’t. I don’t understand.
Bill
Ok that would be great. Thanks Ed.
Hi Ed
Yes, exactly. We just want those social networks (more relevant to financial firm) and in that order and the ‘page advance’ on the portfolio item doesn’t make sense for us as it is not a true portfolio.
If there is a way to do this that doesn’t involve updating the php for single portfolio and single blog every time that would make our life much easier on these updates.
And this is what i’m trying to accomplish on the Blog post social share. Again, maybe there is a way to do is custom css to avoid issues with updates?
<?php if ($show_social) { ?>
<div class=”share-links curved-bar-styling clearfix”>
<div class=”share-text”><?php _e(“Share this article:”, “swiftframework”); ?></div>
<ul class=”social-icons”>
<li class=”sf-love”>
<div class=”comments-likes”>
<?php if (function_exists( ‘lip_love_it_link’ )) {
echo lip_love_it_link(get_the_ID(), ‘<i class=”ss-heart”></i>’, ‘<i class=”ss-heart”></i>’, false);
} ?>
</div><li class=”googleplus”>” onclick=”javascript:window.open(this.href,
”, ‘menubar=no,toolbar=no,resizable=yes,scrollbars=yes,height=600,width=600’);return false;”><i class=”fa-google-plus”></i><i class=”fa-google-plus”></i>
<li class=”facebook”>” class=”post_share_facebook” onclick=”javascript:window.open(this.href,
”, ‘menubar=no,toolbar=no,resizable=yes,scrollbars=yes,height=220,width=600’);return false;”><i class=”fa-facebook”></i><i class=”fa-facebook”></i>
<li class=”mail”>&body=<?php echo strip_tags(get_the_excerpt()); ?> – <?php echo get_permalink(); ?>” class=”product_share_email”><i class=”ss-mail”></i><i class=”ss-mail”></i></div>
<?php } ?>This is essentially what i’m trying to accomplish in addition to removing the portfolio “advance” image in upper left corner.
<?php if ($show_social) { ?>
<div class=”share-links clearfix”>
<ul class=”bar-styling”><li class=”google-plus”>” onclick=”javascript:window.open(this.href,
”, ‘menubar=no,toolbar=no,resizable=yes,scrollbars=yes,height=600,width=600’);return false;”><i class=”fa-google-plus”></i></div>
<?php } ?>
Thanks Ed. That worked.
Finally, the changes I made to the portfoliophp and singlepostphp are to adjust the social networks that are shown.
Is it possible to make these in custom css or another place so I don’t have to ‘re-paste’ in the past version every time there is an update?
Again, novice here. But would like to avoid this again in the future if possible!
And the double header items on the blog is resolved with the php.
The issue is with the portfolio items which are the most critical component of our website.
See http://www.lpanalyst.com/solutions/gp-tax-estate-transfer-valuation/
Again, sorry to be difficult but really need to resolve this soon.
We are experiencing heavy traffic after investing in a marketing campaign so timing could not be worse.
Bill
Ed, Thanks.
I pasted both of your files back in but still didn’t fix the header issue. I can figure out how to make the changes to the new files you sent but don’t want to spend time doing this if the header issue isn’t correct. Not sure why even with the ‘new’ files this still is not working correctly. Here is just one example. http://www.lpanalyst.com/solutions/gp-management-company-valuation/
Please advise.
