David, an update:
PHP updated to 7.1, thumbnails regenerated and all is good:
Many thanks once again, case closed 🙂
Oh, I see. Glad we got to bottom of it! I’m now in contact with hosting and our developers to look into. Many thanks David!!!
This reply has been marked as private.Great, many thanks for that David. That makes sense, although one point that raises alarm that maybe something else is affecting it is that the image you chose for your tests IS EXACTLY 1200 x 800, see screenshot from Media Gallery:
So you re-uploaded a larger version of this image, rebuilt thumbnails and got:
I just did the same (changed size to 1500 x 1000) replaced media, regenerated thumbnails, refreshed caches and got this: (no change)
Hey guys, any update on this?
Sounds great! Quietest time online for us would be after 8pm (UK GMT), if that’s possible? Let me know…also, do I need to do something, be online at the time or will you take care of everything (disabling plugins, etc.)?
Erm, well when exactly are you/the dev going to look? I can’t leave it like that for so long, a couple of hours maybe (also night-time in Central-Europe would be best!)
thanks for the answer David.
Though, I still don’t get it. The “lifestyle” images are pretty much all 1250 x 1875 (portrait) and 1250 x 833 (landscape). Correct me if I’m wrong, though I thought hard crop should crop the photo to the chosen dimensions (in my case 270×270) from the centre of the original, like it does in the media gallery when looking at the “gallery” or “tiled” view.
As said in the OP, I already tried disabling all plugins and child theme, there was no change.
This reply has been marked as private.even if hard crop is on? Images I’Ve uploaded are not the same size, though isn’t that the point of the hard crop feature, to crop regardless of image size?
As said, uploaded image size varies though width is always 1250px. Three I chose at random: 1250 x 1184 // 1250 x 1875 // 1250 x 833
Thanks Rui. Turned out it was the plugin “WP Popup Plugin” which was causing it so will contact the developer or find an alternative.
Oh, and I forgot to add: this is only an issue on Firefox and Chrome (tested on multiple machines). Safari works fine.
resolved.
ahh i see! i checked on the folders via ftp but didn’t notice the typo (was expecting it to be related to UK/US spellings of the word, i.e. with/without “u”). For others with same problem, the typo is on parent folder, the first “h” from
neighborhood
is missing. Thanks for your help guys.
just restored plugins from a backup and got the site up again, though in admin under themes get this message (see attachment).
Clicking it tells me “install package not available”. Both folders show in ftp.
Widgets from footers have disappeared….
