So… i opened the htaccess file and found the code in there.

I pasted your code into it (replacing what was there before). I saved it, and refreshed the website, where i received a 500 internal error.

I have reverted it back to what it was so that it can work again.

Any suggestions?

I contacted GoDaddy, and they confirmed that nothing is wrong with the server at all. There are no errors being reported. and all systems and settings are correct.

Why not create a downloadable zip file that can be installed – that installs the demo theme in its entirety?

its actually disgusting that you havent found a resolution to a clear issue that you have with the demo import.
