Rui, I’m sure you and the team have noticed this because of all the support tickets being raised, but I believe this TinyMCE fix (applied in 2.5.43) only works for WordPress 4.8!.
If you still have 4.7.5, like I did as of this morning, the text editor doesn’t save any formatting. On another installation that I upgraded to 4.8, the 2.5.43 framework version works fine.

Thanks, the link was still there in an earlier post. I haven’t tested it thoroughly but I can report that the text formatting now persists on saving, which is great.
We needed to go through several SPB text fields to put the lost formatting back in, but at least it stays in place now. This is on WP 4.7.5 by the way. I hope this issue doesn’t appear again when we upgrade to 4.8!
OK, I will give this one a go on our staging server until the update appears. Thanks, Rui.
Can I just check whether that intermediate version of the framework fixes the TinyMCE problems? I have the latest official framework 2.5.42 installed, and in both WordPress 4.7.5 and 4.8 any text formatting gets removed on saving a page/post. It’s a major issue for us right now.
@Ed
That’s strange because it used to work fine with the Additional Images plugin.
I have to take back what I said about issue #1 by the way, it wasn’t custom CSS but a slightly mangled content-single-product.php file in our child theme. When updating that template to WC 3.0, something must have gone wrong and it was missing the vital product gallery code changes. So not so mysterious after all…
So, @jfirth8, I think it’s mainly to do with the Woocommerce plugin update.
I’ve gone ahead and bought a product gallery plugin instead, which is very good and works perfectly. The developer is good and helpful (Swift Ideas use his Quickview plugin for this theme), maybe it’s an option for you too: https://codecanyon.net/item/woothumbs-awesome-product-imagery/2867927
Well, it’s weird. I wrote the (lengthy) comment, used some HTML tags that came out wrong, edited it and then it disappeared. Then I tried to repost it and it didn’t show up. Anyway, here’s another try:
OK, I’ve done some more comparisons and debugging. The main problems appear to be Woocommerce’s fault (not the theme’s), but for the benefit of others who have these issues I have listed them here.
Premise: nothing has changed since before the Woocommerce 3 update. The products are using the same images, all the product images (default and variations) are exactly the same proportion/size (1200×1550). NB: I have always been able to add whatever size/orientation of image I chose to the product gallery or variation images. So that should not affect anything, but for the purpose of testing I’m using images that are all the same.
Issue 1
The Theme Option “Product slider thumbs position” not having any effect. This seems to be caused by custom CSS in our child theme (resizing the product page layout slightly). Very frustrating, because that modification didn’t cause any issues until the Woocommerce update and it’s a redesign that’s replicated across the site.Issue 2
When switching variations, the images get loaded with a few ms delay and get rendered in the wrong position first (right bottom corner). This does not happen when I click on the thumbnail images – they still slide in from the side as expected.
This appears to be a Woocommerce bug because it also happens when using the TwentySixteen theme.Issue 3
The overlay image for the product zoom is correct on page load, but it is the wrong size once a variation has been chosen.
This appears to be a Woocommerce bug because it also happens when using the TwentySixteen theme.I suppose we have to either choose a different product slider to replace the theme’s default Woocommerce one, or send bug reports to Automattic with the hope that they will fix them in a future update.
Switching off the loading of minified scripts got the pages working again.
The variation images show in the thumbnail gallery now, so we’re back to the original (correct) functionality again.
But I now can’t select the thumbnails to be on the left, they’re always positioned at the bottom, no matter what I select in the Theme Options.
Also, the loading of the images is still odd, with the whole div being re-rendered every time I select a variation. It causes a visible shifting of the layout and brief flashing of the product images in wrong positions before they appear. The lens effect is also still loading the wrong (smaller) image to overlay the static one.
This reply has been marked as private. That update is giving me an infinitely spinning loader on every page…
I’m afraid I can confirm those issues, in a slightly different way.
– I have chosen the thumbnails to be on the left of the main product image (in Theme Options).
– On page load they appear perfectly fine on the left
– The zoom feature on the main image also correctly loads the biggest version of the image
– Once I select one of the variations, the thumbnails gallery jumps to the bottom of the main image
– The main image now takes over the whole of the product gallery space and the zoomed-in image is smaller than the static one on screenI can also confirm that the images load in a peculiar way now, with variation images sliding in from the side much more slowly than before.
Here’s a screencast of the behaviour described above: video
Thanks Ed, that’s very much appreciated. As an ex-developer I hesitate to use “unofficial” builds on my production site, but I assume that you’ve checked this build thoroughly…?? 😉
Sorry to keep pushing on this, but it’s a major issue for us. Have you been able to reproduce the problem and is there anything we can do temporarily to get the thumbnails to show again?
Thanks!
It’s not an update notice in WordPress, it’s ThemeForest sending out an email saying that there is a new version. I’m not that bothered by it, but I thought you might want to know. TF doesn’t know if I have updated, they just send the emails when the author submits a new version, so there’s obviously something messed up at their end.
Yes, I thought it was. I updated to that yesterday (using the method of switching from child theme to Atelier and back).
But I already got the notification for version 2.4.34 two days ago, so I don’t understand why I got another one…
