You don’t need to update the child theme, only your custom changes should be in the child theme, all of the other files are in the parent theme and will be updated via the parent theme

The child theme zip file is provided in your download files, upload that to Appearance > Themes and activate it. Then go to Appearance > Editor and paste the code above in functions.php

You would need to find a plugin that creates shortcodes out of widgets, then add the shortcode to the header text area
