    Hey guys,

    1. Can you maybe take a look at why my website is slow most of the time. I’m allready running W3 Total Cache with Max CDN. Without that the speed’s awful.
The homepage is most of the time pretty quick, probably because of the CDN. You can see history over here. Most of the between 2 and 3 sec, but sometimes 8 sec. What is causing that? Is is it hosting?

    2. With other url’s it’s worse. Check the webshop page:
    http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/c7Qbb5/http://slanknd129.129.axc.nl/webshop
That’s 8 sec, but everytime I test it a second time quickly after the first it loads under 2 sec. Is that because of CDN?

    3. Does that mean that every new visitor have awful loading times the first time but a second visit get’s better? That’s not really a good alternative.

I’d would love to here what makes the website slow. Is it theme, plugin, settings or hosting related?

    Running:
    Wordpress: 3.9.1
    Dante: 2.56 with childtheme

I will place the login details in a second private message.

    Best,
    Kirsten

    Hi Kirsten,

What is you hosting plan? In what company?
If the site was already visited by you, those files are already loaded in the CDN. So next visitor will pick them from the CDN and should be fast.

The speed depends of lot of things, specially hosting, and bad plugins.

    Best Regards,
    Rui

    Hi Rui,

This is the hostingplan. Its a Dutch company.
    http://www.versio.nl/webhosting-wordpress.php
    Package WP Prime NL

But I suspect them to have to many websites on one server.

The weird thing is that it sometimes loads fast and sometimes its slow.

Try to check your memory limit in WordPress.
Check the link bellow how to do it

In wp-config my memory limit is:
    define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ’96M’);

Hi, can you try increasing that to see if that solves anything?

But… your website loads within 6 seconds for me (from scratch, not from cache), did you solve that on your own?

    Cheers

Nope I didn’t change a thing. That’s the weird thing. It’s a holiday today in Holland. Probably less people working and surfing.

What is a correct size to increase it to?

A couple of days ago W3 Total Cache stopped working because of file permissions and then it had really bad loading times. Last week I disabled all plugins no progress.

As a test I emted all page caches. Here’s the result from pingdom:
    http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/dlG9TU/http://slanknd129.129.axc.nl
    almost 10 sec!

I don’t consider 9.7 seconds awfully slow, but something that can be improved I guess.
W3Total Cache is back now? Try increasing the memory limit to 125MB or 250MB, not sure if that changes anything tho.

I don’t see anything bad happening in the timeline of your website loading. Your image sizes seem to be fine and nothing seems to be disturbing the loading time. So 6 seconds for me was nothing out of the ordinary.

Anyhow, let us know if the memory limit helped!

Ok I will, are you sure that is has nothing to do with my hosting company?

Not at all, no, that’s something I would have considered after checking your content thoroughly. But you since your content looks fine I would say consider asking them if they know what’s going on or if 6 seconds can be improved further!

Let us know what they said!

Can you do me a favour and check how quick the back-end is with you guys. Some other websites I have acces to on different hosts have a quicker back-end. Are the loading times for wp-admin theme/wordpress related or hosting related?

    Hi

Loading time can always be down to your hosting, obviously the better the server the quicker your site is going to load. As Melanie stated, there is nothing out of the ordinary on your site which is causing long loading times, therefore it’s just an overall loading time which could only really be improved by using a better host/server, are you on a shared hosting plan?

Yep I am, that’s why my doubt came.
Today I have received access on a server of a different hoster to test the website for a couple of days. See if it improves and gets stable.
I will keep you guys posted.
