Team – did this ever get implemented in Cardinal? If so, what is the exact method to use this? Is using a category name for the permalink done via /%category%, /%portfolio-category%, or something else entirely? I’ve tried them both and the first one doesn’t get saved in the settings. It deletes the initial %ca, and the second option breaks a standard page (404 Error to be precise) with a portfolio Swift Page Builder element in it. I can always add that new example function in the child theme if necessary. Thanks in advance! -Paul

/%portfolio_cat%/
?Please add a WP login privately in a new thread.
Thanks.

March 29, 2016 at 11:05 am #258401Hi Paul,
Can I quickly confirm what your desired outcome is, currently the portfolio cat URL looks like this:
http://regionalfreightway.werremeyer.com/portfolio-category/real-estate/
– What did you want to read as?
For example, I do not think this example would be possible:
http://regionalfreightway.werremeyer.com/category/real-estate/
.Thanks.
March 29, 2016 at 4:14 pm #258521David – I wouldn’t mind excluding the “portfolio” permalink base altogether. So simply show the specific portfolio category like such: http://regionalfreightway.werremeyer.com/real-estate/ Based on the initial posts about this topic, it seems like some permutation of this should be possible. Thoughts? -Paul
March 30, 2016 at 12:02 pm #258723Hi,
I am not 100% sure that is possible (at least to do correctly). If you remove the the portfolio base, WP will not know if the category taxonomy belongs to Posts, Portfolios or any other custom post type.
I cannot login with the above details, are they still working?
– You would either need to name it something arbitrary
site.com/portfolio/category-example
or deregister the entire CPT and enable a new one in the child theme.Thanks.

Not sure what to do about that. Please advise. -Paul

Thanks – that is working now for me. Are you aware the portfolio items are not displaying on your portfolio post type taxonomy archives?
http://regionalfreightway.werremeyer.com/portfolio-category/illinois/
Can you add your FTP details so I can look over your child theme?
Thanks.
April 8, 2016 at 9:03 pm #260476David – I’ve enabled the built in WP file editor. Let me know if that’s not sufficient. I’m not aware of the issue with the portfolio post type taxonomy archives. We’re displaying the items like such: http://bit.ly/1Ve2XuT What I can say is that illinois is a sub category of real-estate. Not sure if that’s causing issues or not. We’re also attempting to use a custom portfolio permalink base of “portfolio”. But variations on using portfolio and not portfolio-category also do not work. Thoughts? -Paul
