    So… I’m translating to Spanish and I see characters like instead of the regular letters with accents, also special characters like ñ or ¿ appear with that question mark inside a box.

    Does it have to be with the database encoding? It is utf8_general_ci.

    Either way, tried to put this:

    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />

    In the header php, but still got the same errors… any ideas? 🙁

    Thanks

    I thought this might be a wordpress problem, so I installed the spanish version to test the theme and it’s the same, is there any solution to this besides translating and replacing characters with html code? 🙁

    I will ask the developer about that!

    Try this:

    1) Open wp-config.php;
    2) Find:

    define('DB_CHARSET', 'utf8');
    define('DB_COLLATE', '');

    3) Change it to:

    /*define('DB_CHARSET', 'utf8');
    define('DB_COLLATE', '');*/

    Additionally, if translating the theme, make sure to work in UTF-8 in POEdit.

    Thank you Cosmin, it was POEdit, after I set it to utf-8 everything worked. 😀
