I’ve been trying to speed up my site – http://AllIndieWriters.com. I found some caching and minifying plugins that seemed to work well together, but they were breaking the TinyMCE editor, mostly in BBpress but also sometimes in the admin area. So, after searching this support forum and seeing other threads discussing caching issues, I tried a solution posted by another member which included setting up W3 Total cache.

While that didn’t cause problems with TinyMCE, I had to remove it because it destroyed the shortcodes in Pinpoint (among a few other problems of its own). Or at least I assume it was the culprit. I didn’t notice any strange behavior of that kind previously.

I deleted the plugin. I deleted the cache. I got rid of any minified files it created. But the shortcodes are still broken. They’re displaying as codes on the frontend of the site rather than turning into lists. You can see the problem in action at http://allindiewriters.com/about/

Other shortcodes outside of Pinpoint seem to work fine. For example, I’m pulling BBpress into the site using a shortcode, and that displays okay – http://allindiewriters.com/forums/

I’ve also tried replacing the wp-admin and wp-includes folders with a fresh download, and I’ve tried a backup of Pinpoint that I made before the problem surfaced as well as a completely fresh copy of Pinpoint just downloaded from Themeforest. (Although I’ve since reinstalled my last backup so I don’t lose any of the other customizations live on the site while I work this out.)

Obviously I’m missing something somewhere, but for the life of me I can’t figure out what I need to fix or replace to get these shortcodes working again. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Nevermind! It turns out it wasn’t w3 after all. It was an add-on for BBpress (odd because they used to work great together). I figured I’d take one last stab at deleting all plugins and reinstalling them one by one (did that before the final W3 cleanup too). And this one stuck out as the culprit. So it’s all settled now. Three days trying to fix site slowness and related issues with barely any sleep will make even the most obvious solutions slip your mind sometimes. 🙂
