    I’ve set up my Google Webmaster account for my new site and now I want to add a site-map.

    I couldn’t get Yoast to work, so I’ve installed the Simple SiteMap plugin, which tells me to add the shortcode (simple-sitemap) to each page. (Seems like a very long-winded way of adding a simple sitemap.)

    How do I add shortcode to a page? Presumably this will not appear on the web page itself?

    I’m sure there was a simple way of adding shortcode, but I can’t see it now.

    That plugin doesn’t sound like the functionality you are looking for, you’d likely be better off with something like this: https://wordpress.org/plugins/google-sitemap-plugin/
