    how can i remove the blue accents on hover over images?

    yes i did it myself but it would be great for this to not be default! maybe a dropdown to allow you to choose if you want hover or not?

    How about losing the background and keeping the icon?

    You can set the opacity for your however to 0 in theme options > general. No need for the css. This will also keep your arrow.
