Hi, I posted this support request in WPML support forum:
Me:
I am trying to: visit the portolio pages in the main language (ES)
I visited this URL: e.g. this portfolio page http://www.xxxxxxxx.com/portfolio/como-hemos-cambiado-ficha/
I expected to see: the translation of the English portfolio page http://www.xxxxxxxx.com/en/portfolio_en/como-hemos-cambiado-en/
Instead, I got: a 404 error page
(I don’t have installed the latest version of your WPML plugin since it is causing a lot of problems in the front end. I had to downgrade to 3.1.6)WPML:
Are your portfolio pages coming from a plugin or theme? if so which one?Me:
They come from the theme -> http://cardinal.swiftideas.com.WPML:
Can you provide logins so I can take a look?Me:
DoneWPML:
This is a theme compatibility issue. Can you provide me contact details of the author so our compatibility team can reach them?Me:
Done

I don’t understand how problems showing a portfolio item can be a compatibility issue between Cardinal and WPML.I’m in a hurry. The website has to be on air next Friday…
September 24, 2014 at 3:28 am #113921Hi,
I change the permalinks to default, and everything come back to normal, I think there is some issue with the permalinks. Check all the permalink options in Settings -> Permalinks and in WPML. It will helps.

laranz.September 25, 2014 at 10:15 am #114392Hi, thanks for your support.
I’m sorry to say that this issue has led to another problem, now with portfolio categories (this was working correctly some days ago). When I edit a page in English I only see Spanish (default language) portfolio categories, although categories are correctly translated. This implies now item is shown in the EN portfolio page (like this http://www.solegimenez.com/en/discography/presuntos-implicados_en/).
There seem to be some incompatibilities between WPML and your theme… It’s a pity. I like Cardinal very much.
Tbanks in advance for your help.
September 26, 2014 at 5:07 am #114702Hi,
There is nothing incompatible between WPML and Cardinal I think, there maybe some settings missed because when I open this page http://www.solegimenez.com/en/discography/presuntos-implicados_en/ the whole site is in English, and when I open this http://www.solegimenez.com/discografia/presuntos-implicados/ it’s all Spanish. So double check all the WPML settings according to the documentation.
Let us know,
Thanks,
laranz.September 27, 2014 at 5:15 pm #115118Hi, thanks for your help, but finally I had to uninstall the WPML plugin in my web. It became very unstable, specially the shop. Now it works fine but in one single language 🙁 I will wait for a more stable version of the plugin and hope also Cardinal gets WPML certified soon.
September 28, 2014 at 11:22 pm #115229Hi,
Cardinal is compatible with WPML, there is only some settings are set wrong, I suggest you to contact the WPML guys about this, they are happy to help you.
When I edit a page in English I only see Spanish (default language) portfolio categories, although categories are correctly translated
