    Is it possible to view a PDF in a lightbox /modal? I don’t want to add another plugin if possible.

    Unfortunately not, you can only add the link the the pdf.

    Will I have any problems if I use the FooBox Media Lightbox plugin? Any conflicts?

    Yes I have seen Ed recommend not using that plugin as it does cause issues.
