I myself, Instead of saying anything negative about theme, would better love to hear and receive only solutions.
Ed, i would request you to provide all of us here the standard or recommended general settings for both Better WordPress Minify and WP Super Cache.
Alternatively, For WP Super Cache, i think everybody of us would like to have the export file (that particularly could work best for this theme) from your side with recommeded settings, so that everybody can itself test by importing those settings on their site.
Because when i personally installed and tested WP Super Cache on my almost basic site without any plugin, then also it didn’t make or show any single difference.
GTMetrix report “before and after” was almost same with just 1 or 2 % change, when used WP Super Cache.
So might be optimal and recommended settings are required.Hope to receive favourable resopnse from your side 🙂

Here is how our setup looks – https://www.dropbox.com/s/4247jgzrwa977sc/Screenshot%202013-11-16%2013.40.08.png
In terms of WP Super Cache, we don’t actually use this as our hosting comes ready optimised and cached (wpengine.com). I’d recommend this guide – http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-install-and-setup-wp-super-cache-for-beginners/
@larslenselink – try the above, if not I’d recommend contacting your host, as you too have 3-4 seconds before your website starts to load, likely a DNS wait.– Ed
November 17, 2013 at 5:16 pm #31714Hi,
for anyone having these problems in this thread it would make sense to install a service like the free version of New Relic (newrelic.com) and post the results here. Will post mine, too, shortly.
Best regards
November 18, 2013 at 12:24 am #31726I just installed Minify after reading this and it has broken my masonry blog elements .. can i ask what the script if for this so that I can exclude it .. my whole site is down !
November 18, 2013 at 12:42 am #31729@sheermagazine – can you post a link to your site so that I can check it? Are you using any custom plugins?

November 19, 2013 at 9:29 am #32015@Swift Ideas – Ed: The minify plugin doesn’t do anything for me. I’ve contacted the host about the possible dns wait, but even after loading it remains slow. Not only the front-end, but also the wordpress dashboard/ cms is really slow.
I need a solutions fast as it costs me money not having the webshop running properly….
November 19, 2013 at 5:14 pm #32132Browsing your site here and it’s quick, nothing we can see wrong theme-wise here. The WordPress dashboard wouldn’t be slow because of the theme. We only load one extra script within the admin.

November 20, 2013 at 8:51 am #32241Hi Ed,
I’ve contacted my host and he solved an issue that was caused by the W3 total cache plugin. He told me their hosting environment works better without caching… So after deleting the plugin, the website became faster. Im still not totally satisfied though; it remains slower than all of my other websites (same host).
November 21, 2013 at 12:56 am #32466I’m still seeing 2-2.5s at the host before the theme starts loading. On our sites we average around 100ms for the same period of loading.
http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/cXLB3G/www.transferpersshop.nl
Looks like the site is being redirected from http://www.transferpersshop.nl to transferpersshop.nl (that won’t help).
Also managed to find this – http://dnscheck.pingdom.com/?domain=www.transferpersshop.nl (possible culprit).
Hope that helps you get to the bottom of this!

Useful information. I have managed to disable the redirect (I think?!) but have no clue what the DNS Check Errors mean. What does a “culprit” mean and how do I solve it? Is this culprit causing the 2.5s extra loading time?
November 21, 2013 at 2:32 pm #32630@Brookebot – not seeing any issues with speed on your site. Content loads almost instantly. I don’t see the background before. What browser are you using? – http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/dultqV/http://brookebot.com/train2dayclothes/shop/
@larslenselink – You’d need to ask your host, they would need to resolve this. It may be causing that time, as it appears to be blocking the loading until it’s resolved.– Ed
November 24, 2013 at 5:50 am #33040Hi Guys – I had an issue with slow page loading times and size of page, I went from 1mb size and 14 secs page load to 100kb size and 1.47 sec load time.
Page Speed went from 50 to 97.
I’m using W3 Total Cache with minify disabled.
My recommendations to go to http://www.gtmetrix.com, run your site and depending on the detailed feedback make your changes. Access to the .htaccess file will help a lot with improving page speed and file size load.
I’ll share a link that I found very useful: http://webloggerz.com/w3-total-cache-settings-configure-optimize/ – there’s detailed setup and a file you can import to set it up.
Good luck
