On this page: https://biojouvance.com/shop/bio-choice/bio-choice-cream-1floz/
I have uploaded a 1200x1200px photo for featured image and the gallery. They are both cut out of the product on a pure 100% white background.
Here is the original picture which is linked to the gallery… https://biojouvance.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/bio_creaml_one_oz_bio_jouvance_paris_top_view_btl-891-r.jpg
The main product image is okay, but the second picture has jpeg artifacts all around in the white space… How can I fix this… if you can’t see it just tilt your monitor… preferably laptop screen shows it very clear… but not on the main picture…
and what is the best image size to use… I am using 1200px because that is what you guys are using in one of the demos.
I’ve attached the photo with the problem… (saved it direct from the website)
thanks,

Sorry but I don’t see any issue with the image at all, it’s just a white background..

March 25, 2015 at 6:23 pm #160761I’ve darken the photo using photoshop “brightness/contrast”. All the grey sections should be white regardless of how dark I push the photo. Because there is nothing there to go dark… This should be a compression issue… idk
Its like this on your demo as well… http://cardinal.swiftideas.com/demos/#shop
any ideas?

I understand that some plugin is trying to optimize the photos… and that’s fine, but why is it adding stuff that’s not there to begin with…?
March 25, 2015 at 8:34 pm #160781Sorry for the back to back updates… but I think I’ve figured out the reason… maybe now you can think of a fix for it.
So I uploaded the same image using a larger file size… before it was 75kb and it showed the dark spots… I made it larger over 100 kb and it is fixed… but this is not a solution… just a temp fix… any ideas?
March 25, 2015 at 10:27 pm #160800Can you create a test product using the smaller issue? so we can check if it’s an issue from our side.
Thanks

March 26, 2015 at 4:49 am #160861I don’t think I can because the site is live. But you have the same issue in your demo site. If the file size is over 100kb everything is fine, but if it drops below it we get that weird shapes/shades showing up in the photos.
Seems to be a bug. I haven’t made any modifications which would do this..That said, I also have your other theme Dante installed on this website elitahair.com and the photos don’t do that… they are below 100kb…
March 26, 2015 at 9:55 am #160972Will forward to the development team.

March 26, 2015 at 11:46 am #161033Hi there,
This happens because WordPress by default reduces the quality of JPG files. Try this plugin – https://wordpress.org/plugins/simplejpegquality/

March 27, 2015 at 7:34 pm #161533Great. Thanks Ed.
