    I would like to disable the filename display in the lightbox gallery on hover. How can I do that?

    Well, actually that’s the item name generated automatically by WP by removing the .jpg-ending. Just to make sure what I mean.

    On your gallery asset, set ‘show captions’ to no (see screenshot)

    This does not seem to work. I set it back to yes, saved, set it back to no, saved and the captions were still there.
    Interestingly in the Asset for multiple galleries the option “Show title text” has no effect either. When set to “no” the Titles are still displayed on hover.
