    Is there a way I can disable loading font-awesome.css?

    I don’t use it and it takes a long time to load.

    Hi,

    You’d need to edit functions.php and remove or comment out lines 130 and 136 – that’s where the file is registered and loaded in the framework.

    Is there something I can put in my functions.php in the child theme folder to override the registration of font-awesome in the main functions.php.

    I’d like to handle it in a way that persists through theme updates.

    I’d suggest creating a mini-plugin instead. Here you go, copy to Notepad/TextEdit, save as a .php file, archive it as a .zip and you can install it in WordPress:
