Custom links in image grid?

Hi Swiftideas,

I have a question … I am looking for a way to build an image grid with custom links comparable to what you do here with the overview of your demo’s” http://swiftideas.com/features/#demos.

is this possible with the theme at the moment? I tried to find something but didn’t succeed. I know I could build a grid myself by inserting each image individually, but would prefer to have something more dynamic that uses an underlying gallery? I have seen something like that in another theme, where each image in a gallery had a custom field to specify a custom link. This field was then used as an option in the element used to build a image grid.

If not possible now, do you know a plugin in that does something like that?

Hi Rita, There are several plugins available that can do it. I ended up using Essential Grid. Quite a powerful piece of software 🙂

Thank you NiO ! But I thought you found a plugin to use custom links with the Atelier gallery display. I like the Masonry style of Atelier Gallery, and just need to redirect images to some pages (product categories big pictures to product category page exactly).

If somebody find a solution…

@rita01 I’m afraid that wouldn’t be possible, you would have to edit the theme code to do that, no plugin will integrate directly with out gallery

Hi Rita,

Don’t think there is a gallery type that has this feature in the theme. An idea I played with was setting up a special portfolio category and use the available elements. If I remember correctly, you can include custom links in those and then use the portfolio masonry grid to achieve it. Might be worth a try 🙂
