    ** SITE IS IN MAINTENANCE MODE **

    Blog page title disappears when assigning a page to it in WP reading settings.

    I created a new page called “Journal” to be my blog page landing. Page Options/Show Page Title is checked.


    01. WP reading settings, Post page set to nothing.

    02. The result is the blog page shows the title properly.

    03. WP reading settings, Posts page set to journal.

    04. The result to assigning a Post page to a page, the title disappears.

    Why does this happen?

    When you set that option, WordPress ignores the page you have set, and loads the index.php template within the theme. This option doesn’t need to be set, so we’d recommend that you leave it set to a page (your blog page if you’d like to show posts).
