I have a total newbie question.
I see there is the Atelier (parent theme) and an Atelier child theme.
After installing the parent theme, are we supposed to be using/activating the child theme or are we able to use the parent theme only?

What is different between using the Atelier parent theme and the child theme?

    Hi,

You can activate the child theme because it will be the same at this point since the child theme is “empty”.

The child theme will be useful to add some custom code if necessary so that you don’t lose any code customization when you update the parent theme.

Let me know if you still have a doubt.

I used the “Child Theme Configurator” plugin, and created a child theme. I’ve been working in there, and decided I wanted to add a search bar right below the menu. From the back end I uploaded the sf-header.php file and tried to edit it, but no changes are happening. It seems that the parent theme files are overriding the child theme file that I uploaded. Is there a way to override the parent theme’s sf-header.php file so that I can make these changes through the child theme?
