Hi guys
We’ve been working with Atelier for a few months and love the theme however it is very slow to load… I’ve been in touch with our server admins and confirmed the server is not at fault as a matter of fact system load sits at about 1% on average.
They have confirmed that “the time to first byte is pretty poor and that is unfortunately down to development. The PHP call takes quite some time to complete. You will need to investigate modifying the way your site loads to improve the speed.”
Is this something you can help with?
Thanks

First of all I can see your home page is 6.4MB which is crazy, some of your images are too big: http://d.pr/i/1dy84/2myV7yBy
You should optimize these images as best you can to reduce the file size

May 17, 2016 at 5:56 pm #268147Hi Kyle
I have taken care of what you suggested but still, the theme is awfully slow on the wordpress backend, not necessarily the frontend.
If I switch to another theme the backend performs normally, so it could be one of your plugins, maybe even the framework?
May 18, 2016 at 10:44 am #268280Sounds like your hosting is poor, we have no issues with the wp backend and neither do any of our customers, therefore it’s not a theme issue. The reason it is fast when you switch to another theme is the default themes are very basic

May 24, 2016 at 5:33 pm #269808Don’t know if that’s the case mate, as mentioned when i switch to another theme all is good. Plus i have other websites on that server with no issues. anyway, thought it may have something to do with my other ticket… Aq_Resize.process() error
That thing hammers my error_log
May 25, 2016 at 10:16 am #269965Hi alienintelligence! I am just customer (not from support). Problems with perfomance (backend) can give some plugins too.
May 25, 2016 at 4:06 pm #270134Can you check you have GD Image Library enabled on your server?

May 25, 2016 at 8:44 pm #270224I’ve noticed the same slowness when in the dashboard, when using shared hosting. On dedicated or WordPress hosting, it’s faster.
I can confirm it’s the hosting… The dashboard is lightening fast using local test server (MAMP) which means the hosting server is the main issue, or other plugins.
You can install a plugin like WP Query Monitor to see for yourself, Swift is not the issue. https://wordpress.org/plugins/query-monitor/
I am in for the info on GD Image Library. Very curious.
May 25, 2016 at 8:54 pm #270227thanks @No Dynx for the additional information.

May 26, 2016 at 8:24 am #270293Easy Apache has default profile saved and GD is part of that. So it’s on

Your home page is 3.5MB which is quite large, you might want to otpimize the image before you upload them to improve load time

June 2, 2016 at 8:05 am #271900hi guys
the front end is not the problem… we are happy with the load times… i’m only talking about the back end…
June 2, 2016 at 8:27 am #271906Yes agreed, the front end is just fine. The problem is definitely the back end.
