I have added a ‘Alt 1 Background’ which works fine on the pages where I can choose the background, however please can you tell me how I can make this as a default throughout the site so it is shown on news & portfolio pages as well.

Hi there,

Do you mean for the page heading? You can set the default in the Default Meta Options within Theme Options.

Else this is set per page.
