I tried adding a widget to the header in the form of a custom menu that I attached to Widget Area 8 under Appearances> Widget in the WP admin area.

Thinking it would be easy to achieve, I tried calling the widget by its name inside header.php using both the “function_exists(‘dynamic_sidebar’)…” and widget get methods but it didn’t appear in the header (its not getting hooked).

What do I need to change to solve my problem.

    Hi there,

You might be better off using this – http://wordpress.org/plugins/widget-shortcode/

Then you can just call the shortcode in the header within do_shortcode – http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/do_shortcode

I try to stay away from plugins as much as possible to streamline my port.

    There’s no other way?

Like perhaps defining the widget in the /js/functions.php file?

It would all be through the header.php file. I’d love to help more, but unfortunately we don’t have the time to be able to offer these services.

If you’re not able to manage it on your own, I’d recommend hiring a freelancer, or maybe asking here – http://wpquestions.com/
