UPDATE: after further review, for some reason the parallax effect does not work properly on MAC Safari. I’ve verified that it works on Chrome and Firefox, but If you look at the site in Safari, it’s totally broken.

Note: If Matters, I’m using Version 5.1.10 (6534.59.10)

UPDATE: It seems that the background color is adjusted in a totally different area than theme options. It’s under customize and so I think I’m good on this question now.

How do I make it semi-transparent and less off-set (it moves right and down too much).

Yeah, that’s what I thought, but as you can see, I have background image off and the color is brown. See attached.

My goal is to create the effect that I have done on another website where I create a background that becomes visible as part of the design – see attached image.

I have not yet found anything in the settings to adjust the crossfade transition time – only the type of transition and how long each slide displays. Therefore, it’s kind of jolting.

fyi..in music, this would be called the crossfading time. It gives the transition from one song (or image) to another a smoother effect by slowing it down.
