November 11, 2014 at 2:59 pm in reply to: Revolution slider with html5 video not working in Firefox #127364
Hi Kyle,
so we have uploaded all the files in the formats suggested and we’re still running into errors with the slider on Firefox.
We suspected the file names of the videos might be causing problems so we deleted all the old videos and left only the final slides. And still nothing.
We have inspected the page with the firefox debug tool and it’s returning a bunch of errors showing that the slider is unable to load the content. See screen shot attached.
The Revolution slider support staff suggest updating the slider, but the latest version is not currently available through the Dante theme – can you assist us with that as well so we can rule out that being the issue?

Will it redirect users to the correct video automatically or does the site have to point each browser to its own video?
November 10, 2014 at 3:33 pm in reply to: Revolution slider with html5 video not working in Firefox #127031I also thought that updating the plugin might help. The current version is 4.5.9 but it appears there is a more current version 4.6.3. However, it doesn’t show up as being available to update.
This will take me sometime to figure out, but in the meantime, I have one more related issue that’s super pressing:
The slider now has a video layer, so some users with older browsers are unable to see it. Is there a way to use custom CSS or is there a setting where once the browser is detected, if it can’t display html 5 video, a different slider is loaded (a version without the video layer)?
Assuming I need to add both sliders to the same home page – how do I do that? There is just a single field for the Revolution slider alias…
thanks,
RossitzaHi Kyle,
thanks for your help. It’s exactly what I needed.
Is it also possible to do the same kind of thing in the following context:
can I specify that on laptop screens a different slider loads on the home page? Here’s why: I have a funky (read: messed up) slider with lots of text layers and when it resizes to fit on a laptop screen it needs to do so in such a way that everything appears on screen without having to scroll down. After lots of messing around with the Revolution slider I have set it up so it scales and looks sort of ok on large desktop screen and on laptop screens. However, neither is exactly what I want. So I thought I could set up two sliders, built to scale if you will, one for 1920x1080px and another for screens up to 1368x768px.
Can that be done with custom CSS? What would I need to do – create two separate home pages? And then what?
Thanks for your help,
RossitzaHi Kyle,
so I added the following extra class: blueheader
I have to admit I have no idea if this is an appropriate/correct way to name an extra class… so do let me know if I should change it.
Thanks for the help.
Rossitza
OK. Can you give me an example of how to do that? I mean, I can add an extra class in the asset(s), but then what would the CSS look like – I don’t write code… sigh.
well, my client has been getting this issue for awhile now, so it’s not a one time glitch. What do you suggest?

Hi Rui,
here is a screen shot of what I am asking about. Is it feasible?
thanks,

You must be logged in to view attached files.right. but it must be feasible to style the tabs the same was as the sidebar menu, right?
That is, with lines above and below, color hover, little arrow to the side, removing the boxed outline and the background color, etc.
Aaaawwwwwww, look at that – so clean. Thanks so much!
I will show this to my client, but he is a real stickler for consistency, and I know he’ll ask why I am not using the same sidebar menu style as on other pages. Here is an example: http://pbidesign.com/evolution/?page_id=12365
Is there a way to use a sidebar custom menu instead of the tabs and then have the links load the icon boxes? With a custom class for each icon box somehow? I have no idea…
here’s the screen shot – the tabs are a fixed width, so the text doesn’t fit on one line.IF it’s set as a fixed width then I’d like to change it so it’s as wide as a 1/3 column of text.

it’s pretty ridiculous to have tabs that are so narrow – you can’t have more than one word in them!!! It’s very frustrating to try to work with an asset that is so restricted.
I forgot to include an additional link to a different page which has the custom menu sidebar. I am trying to achieve the same look and alignment with the tour tabs. I would actually prefer to just keep the custom menu sidebar, so it’s consistent throughout the site, but I don’t know how to get the custom menu to load just the icon box assets on the same page…
Awesome. Thanks for setting it up – I can now do that for the rest of the pages.
