I have the exact same problem with Supreme Magazine theme. Text fields in “visual” are showing HTML code in white and no WYSIWYG toolbar. Everything is up to date: WP 3.9.1, theme version is 1.5 (I use a child theme).

This is 1 second, you just change it to whatever you like.

I’m trying to achieve the same result. I will create a “featured” category, assign this category to a carousel and manage my posts that way. Then, I will hide this “featured” category label so that only the real category is visible. Can you point to me the file where this category label is generated so I can put in an exception.
