I’m also having an issue creating a child theme for Joyn.
I have already put the customized single-team.php, sf-portfolio-detail.php, and single-post.php template files in the child theme folder.
Now, could you give an example of the function/s that would be needed to override them in the parent theme?
Thanks!! We’re really loving the theme!
Tim
That fixed it!
Tried that but they don’t have the most recent update of joyn theme available.
I updated via the wp dashboard yesterday but now that option is out.
Is there anything else that can be done? It’s very important that we are able to login to our site today.
Please let me know.

Thanks.
thanks for looking.
Here is the url. Although I haven’t been able to update this client’s version of joyn to the most recent yet, I did test the instagram functionality on another clients site that does have an updated version of joyn. So the problem exists in the newest update as well.
Check this link to see if there is something that can be done:

The recent posts widget brings up client items instead of just portfolio posts and the recent blog post widget brings up client item instead of just blog posts.
It’s a bug that I don’t know how explain or help you fix. But I’ve created a work around for the time being.
January 13, 2016 at 9:24 pm in reply to: menu link that goes to a specific section of a long page #240191That’s exactly what I have done. However, the menu item is not always leading to the correct part of the page. It loads there and then in two seconds the page shifts to a place unrelated.
Please advise.
January 13, 2016 at 9:10 pm in reply to: Recent Post Widget bringing in all posts instead of just Recent Blog posts #240181It’s gets confusing for the user because when someone clicks on a category that the blog post their reading is filed under, it takes them to the blog index page that is set in the theme customization; however, whatever page that is set to cannot be customized with the swift page builder to look like a nicely designed landing page with slider etc.
So what I did to get around this was create a blog landing page with your blog asset that I direct visitors to via the main nav, but if they click on the category right under the title in the blog post they will go to that blog index page (which I have named Archive so not to be confused with the blog landing page) with all blogs in that category. I’d be nice if they clicked on the category in the blog post and were directed to the blog landing page with that filter selected. This would make more sense. Right now I have created an archive of blog posts with search functionality, breadcrumbs, recent articles, recent work, blah blah blah so that it feels like the user is digging through old posts. A “Blog Archive” not to be confused with our official blog.
Is this a good fix? The only problem is this incorrect feeding of tags into the sidebar widgets. Looks unprofessional. Is there a fix? The widgets work fine with in the Archive page – it’s just when they go deeper into a archive>category page that things get weird.
Thanks!
I’ll take care of it. I was just looking for a easy fix 🙂
Dang! I know that. Sorry to bother you with such a rookie question. I always forget about that hidden tray of good options!
A plugin we use on another site called Instagram Feed successfully made an update to their plugin that fixed this issue and I assumed your team would be making the same changes, because having this feature on the theme seems important and it’s not looking very good at the moment.
January 7, 2016 at 4:32 pm in reply to: menu link that goes to a specific section of a long page #238912That doesn’t work on the menu when navigating from a secondary page. It just adds #about to the present page url instead of going to the home page and scrolling down to the about section…
