I learned this not too long ago. When doing your menubar you can’t add categories, you need to add links to the category. What you want to do is on your site, you go to the category and copy that url. Then you go to your menu and add that url as a link.

This feels like a stupid question, but where do I change the contents of the sidebar?

Currently look like the attached picture.

Thanks for your patience Kyle, you’re great.

I guess I’ll go to the regular WP forum and see if they know what I should do.

Thanks for your effort Kyle 🙂

I think it does, I have yet to try the attributes thing. I’ll give that a shot.

As long as I can tie another widget in with the nav widget it should look okey. If that doesn’t work I guess I have to make a whole new sidebar, if that’s even possible?

Would it be possible to alter it in some way to show categories as well as brands?

Or maybe some other widget can do what I need?

Seems to be alot of people who’s having problems with this in general, at least there was. Found a bunch of old threads regarding the subject (other forums, not related to your theme). So I tried a solution someone posted wich was:

Commong settings: Custom structure – /%postname%/
Product permalink base: shop base / shop base with category

The structure actually changed to http://localhost/Rakryggat/rakning/ BUT now I get 404 not found. Maybe this helps Kyle?

I’d love to, but unfortunatley I’m building the site offline, wich I’m starting to regret.

I’m using the option ‘Shop base with category’ and I even tried adding ‘rakning’ to the optional field ‘category base’. Still no luck.

    Hi Kyle,

Yeah I do. I’ve tried every option there is under product permalink base. None of them change the link structure. All I get is http://localhost/Rakryggat/?post_type=product with every option.

I havn’t manually changed anything, just used the different default settings you can chose from.

Edit: not the product permalink base, I ment the optional fields. Sorry

    Kyle to the rescue!

I’ve been playing around with permalinks, but there’s no change in the url’s when I play around with the different options. Wich leads me to believe I need to do a complete custom structure in the ‘product permalink base’.

Problem is I don’t know what to put there and can’t find guides for it.

    Best regards

Thank you Kyle, after some playing around in the menu I found the link page to create custom menus. The first thing you go blind on is the eyes I guess 🙂

    So I finally had the time to sit down once more and do some work on the site. I’ve added all the categories I want for now, and added one product for each category. When adding products I’ve made sure to check the box to the corresponding category. However, the following problem occured;

I made a category called “Efter rakning”, along with that I created two subcategories and chose “Efter rakning” as parent category. I can’t seem to chose the subcategories for the products I’m adding. Is there something I’m missing here?

Attached picture 1 is showing front page, wich works as intended.

Attached picture 2 is showing the intended category when clicking the category below the product at the home page, wich seems to work as intended. Except for the sidebar not showing me any categories.

Attached picture 3 is showing how it looks when I press the category button from the dropdown menu at the nav bar. This is what I don’t get, I know you explained it for me Kyle, but I don’t really understand?

I hope I make at least some sence.

    Best regards

Kyle, thanks again for your help. It makes sense, I’m just not getting it to work right now.

Is there any chance I could start a mail conversation with you instead? It feels like with every answer I get two new questions arise. I don’t want to spam your board more than I have to, and I feel like a dumbass when I do.

    Thanks again.

I changed the permalinks to default and it worked, thanks Kyle!

Do you want me to put this to resolved or keep it open? I’m sure there are more questions from me shortly 🙂
