Also, do you know why lightbox isnt working? What script are you guys using for the lightbox effect?
January 20, 2015 at 3:56 pm in reply to: Add Lightbox link to portfolio carousel on homepage #142758Thanks for the quick reply Kyle. The issue isn’t that the functionality for the lightbox doesn’t exist it’s that I can’t have both options available on the thumbnail. Every other theme out there (at least 99%) have the ability to link to the lightbox image And to the portfolio item page. Yours seems to be locked down on either having one or the other. there is a big issue with that. If you want to showcase a larger version of the thumbnail through that link on the portfolio page or wherever you sacrifice the ability to link the user to the item page. You see the issue? Everyone else has gotten around this issue by allowing the template to have links to both a larger image AND the portfolio item’s page.
My question is how do I accomplish this with your theme?
Also, the lightbox functionality in your theme does not work.
Did it myself. If anyone wants to know how to do this just let me know. You just have to update the swift framework icon list/map.
No apologies necessary. I’m assuming you guys are already running that new version of Minify? I just can’t for the life of me figure how you guys get the green check and I don’t… Hopefully the new version of that plugin will help.
Thanks again!
I will try that new updated version Ed. Thank you.
However stating that the Google Page Speed Insights is simply a tool and doesn’t compare to real user testing isn’t totally on point with what we’re trying to achieve here. People that use that tool, such as myself, are using it to get an understanding of how Google perceives our website. Because at the end of the day that’s all that matters when it comes to Google marketing…looking your best in their ‘eyes’. User testing is a totally different thing and the two shouldn’t be confused. Google absolutely uses this tool as part of their SERP rankings…to what extent? Only Google knows.
I don’t have any issues with the actual loading speed. My issue is with what I have stated in my first two posts. Could you address those things?
1. Prioritize visible content
Your page requires additional network round trips to render the above-the-fold content. For best performance, reduce the amount of HTML needed to render above-the-fold content– Your site passes the Google check. Mine does not. yet I dont see a difference. But there has to be somehthing you guys are doing differently.
2. Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content
Your page has 5 blocking script resources and 8 blocking CSS resources. This causes a delay in rendering your page.
– Again your site passes this check yet mine does not. And again you guys must be doing something different. Something special in your htaccess maybe? This reply has been marked as private. Here are the issues Google is giving me:
1. Prioritize visible content
Your page requires additional network round trips to render the above-the-fold content. For best performance, reduce the amount of HTML needed to render above-the-fold content.– How is this different from your demo??
2. Leverage browser caching – How are you guys doing this on your demo?
3. Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content
Your page has 5 blocking script resources and 8 blocking CSS resources. This causes a delay in rendering your page.– Why would this be any different from you demo?
