    Hi,

Please use WPML, we cover this in the docs: http://neighborhood.swiftideas.com/documentation/#translation.

    Thanks.

But I have to pay for the plugin WPML as well?
Is there a free way to make the multilenguage work?

Yes, please read the above instructions:

To translate the static strings, if you aren’t using WPML then I recommend downloading PO Edit, from http://www.poedit.net/. Once you have installed please follow the steps below:

    1) Open the /neighborhood/languages/ folder and duplicate the en_US.po file, then rename it to your desired language code. For example; for German you need to re-name it as de_DE.po for Spanish es_ES.po for Turkish tr_TR.po etc. You can find all the codes from this link http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_in_Your_Language

    2) Then you will need to open the .po file in PO Edit. Once opened, you will see all strings that needs to be translated. Type the translation of a string into the “Translation” column. Do not delete or edit “Original string” part.

    3) When you finish translating, save the file. This will create an .mo file in the same directory.

    4) Upload the new files into the languages folder of the theme /wp-content/themes/neighborhood/languages/ and then follow this guide: http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress_in_Your_Language#Single-Site_Installations

    Thanks.

    To change the site translations:

    1) Download POEdit https://poedit.net/
    2) Download your language file from your ftp ex-“nl_NL”: neighborhood/languages/nl_NL.po
    3) Search through your strings and amend the translations. Save as your.
    4) When finished, click File => Compile to MO.
    5) Upload your new language files BOTH nl_NL.po and nl_NL.mo to the folder neighborhood/languages/

Remember nl_NL is an example your language file will be named differently.

If you want a multilingual site, you will need WPML, if you want just one translation of the site you can use the above.

    Thanks,
    David.

You should have this in your documentation. I thought multilenguage worked with the theme. 🙁

    Hi,

It does, tried and tested with WPML.

I have not tested WPGlobus so cannot confirm it works with that plugin.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

We did add it to the item description:

“WPML Translation Ready. Neighborhood comes with .po/.mo files as standard, and is ready to be translated into any language – or multiple languages, with 100% WPML support. There is also language selector that you can enable in the top bar menu, to allow your visitors to easily swap between languages.”

    Thanks,
    David.
