Which widget is best for social media icons and how do I get them placed in the upper right hand corner of the header page? If they can’t go there due to the theme that I placed – then how do I get them placed in the upper right hand side of the footer?

You’ll need to add the [social] shortcode to output the social icons, to add this to the header go to Theme Options > Header Options
