Hey guys, I have a questions about the urls.
/?page_id=15444 —- currently they look like this, Is there a way I am able to simply customize this? – I want to be able to put anything in this url.
/juice or /thebestjuice etc.
——————
The site is currently live, if I change these will this effect the linkage in the site or will pages automatically stay linked?
thanks so much.
July 20, 2015 at 2:21 pm #196095Hi,
Yes you can change this, Dashboard => Settings => Permalinks.
Full WordPress Permalink documentation: https://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks#Choosing_your_permalink_structure.
Your links will auto update to the new permalink structure, but if you have hardcoded a link anywhere you will want to update that.

July 20, 2015 at 3:11 pm #196112Yes, when your editing a page your will see the url below the title, at the end there is an edit button

https://www.rohgepresst.de/?page_id=14710 = https://www.rohgepresst.de/saft_shop
https://www.rohgepresst.de/?page_id=12380 = https://www.rohgepresst.de/magazin
https://www.rohgepresst.de/?p=14857 = https://www.rohgepresst.de/was_ist_eine_saftkurfor example…

July 21, 2015 at 8:21 am #196332Can I use this for every page?
July 21, 2015 at 8:23 am #196334What you need to do is set the permalinks to post type, that way they will use the title of the page as the permalink. If you want it slightly different you can edit it on the page itself, however your permalinks have to be set to POST TYPE rather than default

July 21, 2015 at 9:42 am #196352My problem is that all the links are then broken… why is this… ?
I switched the magazine permalinks and then all were 404 errors.
if i set them to posttype will this happen…. ?
July 21, 2015 at 9:45 am #196356No, the reason they broke was because you had the permalink set to default for e.g ?page_id=14710 and then changed them to a normal slug for e.g /saft_shop

August 28, 2015 at 9:37 pm #208549I’ve made a draft of a page and edited it.
By default the URL was https://mrsfrisbeesallnaturals.com/private-label, as the name of the page was Private Label.
However, I wanted the original URL, which was https://mrsfrisbeesallnaturals.com/private-label-aromatherapy-products
I edited the permalink to https://mrsfrisbeesallnaturals.com/private-label-aromatherapy-products, but it defaulted to https://mrsfrisbeesallnaturals.com/private-label-aromatherapy-products-2, as the original page was still in place, so I deleted the original, but still I couldn’t change the URL to private-label-aromatherapy-products.
It is as if the URL private-label-aromatherapy-products is still in the database somewhere, although the page itself has been deleted.
I realise I can call the page something similar, so long as it is unique on my site, but I want to know how to revert to the original URL.
The same has happened with the homepage, which is now ‘home-3’, although there isn’t a ‘home-2’ or ‘home’.
August 29, 2015 at 10:27 am #208581Hi,
Make sure when you delete a page, you then go to “Trash” and permanently delete the deleted pages. That will free up the URL, then go back and amend the new page URL.

August 29, 2015 at 8:20 pm #208642Thanks, David.
Glad it was something straightforward and simple.
August 29, 2015 at 9:09 pm #208645No problem, happy to help you out!
