    Hi,

I just received a notification of an update to Dante theme and updated from network admin dashboard (of a multisite install). My pages built with Page Builder are no more displaying anything and the theme itself is showing as “Broken” in the site’s Themes list and then then theme is not even found in network admin’s Themes list.

    Please respond asap!

    Thanks!

Hi, in order to help “asap” we need to have at least your website url so we can actually see the error.

Can you let us know your wp-admin login details via a private reply as well?

    Thanks

    Hi Melanie,

We have restored the site from a previous backup.

Now, for updates, what’s the recommended method? Should we update theme upon seeing the notification shown in the Themes page or will Envato Toolkit also notify later and update should be done through it? Since the Themes page shows 2.54 update is available, while Envato Toolkit says 2.53 is the current version.

Envato Toolkit didn’t do the backup that it’s supposed to do when updating directly from the Themes page. Does it mean that the upgrade needs to be only done through Envato Toolkit?

    Thanks!

    Hi

The best way is to update through WordPress admin, however you may want to take a backup before you do so just to be safe.

We only submit big updates to ThemeForest, minor bug fix updates are just posted to WordPress therefore ThemeForest will not always have the latest version

In that case, would you please confirm why by updating the theme is getting deleted? Will there be a fix for this? Our install is a multisite install.

    Hi shafqatevo,

Nothing within the theme would cause the update to delete the theme, it’s likely something to do with your server – you may be able to get an indication in the server error logs.

I have the exact same issue. I’m using Bluehost.

So ours isn’t the only incident. We’re on DigitalOcean.

Hi, can you maybe define what you mean by the theme is deleted?
Upon updating the old instance of the theme gets replaced by the new one, so if you made changes to the theme files, those will be removed, but the theme should still be there.

Hi Melanie, sorry for delayed response – the theme itself gets deleted totally from the themes folder.

    Hi

There may be 2 of you getting the issue, but as Ed said in his comment above, nothing within the theme would cause the update to delete the theme, it’s likely something to do with your server – you may be able to get an indication in the server error logs.

Hi @meihsun, are you by any chance using RTCamp’s EasyEngine to setup the WordPress installation?

    Hey guys,

Version 2.56 is out now, can you confirm you are able to auto-update to that correctly?

Thanks Ed, 2.56 works seemingly without any issue… I’ll report back if there’s still any issue.

Thanks again for your attention, Ed!
