    Hi there,

I am a new admin to the site, http://www.wirl.ca.

I would like to updated the theme to the latest version and preserve all customizations that have been made to the site files. I’m not certain where all the customizations are as I’m inheriting this site and not sure if the editor was used to make on-page customizations or if all customizations were done through the custom CSS input theme options.

Could you please provide some guidance on how I could:

    a) upgrade my dante theme to the latest version
    b) preserve all customizations to the theme
    c) not incur any site downtime

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi

You will only lose changes if you have made changes to the theme files. No theme options or changes in a child theme will be lost

Thanks for the prompt reply Kyle.

Is there any way I could run the original files and my current files through a code analyzer to see if there are any differences? Keep in mind that I inherited this code so I’m not sure if/where any changes would have been made.

What could I do to duplicate my existing site, as is, then upload those files to another server/domain name to run my tests there before bringing back to my production environment? Do you have a recommended process to follow?

Not easy to do if your hosting doesn’t have a staging environment. You would need to download your database and files, upload them to the test domain. Then visa versa for when you have finished your testing
