    Hi there.

    Got an email from themeforrest about an update to the theme.

    Can I just install it as a normal theme without losing all my settings and pages?

    If not, how can I update it without losing my work?

    Is there any change log somewhere so I can see whats new in the update?

    Hi

    First, go to your WordPress Dashboard, there should be an update available for the theme. If it’s not there, then download the file from ThemeForest and upload via FTP

    Hi swiftideas.

    But did something change? Before I could update via “updates”. I never had to update the theme manually.

    On my dashboard I get nothing related to updates.

    Do updates have to be done manually from now?

    And: will changes and settings remain? I did everything in the theme options or in a child theme.

    You should still get updates to your dashboard, however some people are having issues with it so the developer is looking into it. If the update is not available on your dashboard you will need to update via ftp, you will not lose any of your theme options or changes made in the child theme

    Thanks for answering. Will you ubdate this thread when the issue is fixed? Then I´ll wait for this.

    If it´s taking too long I´ll do it via FTP – thank you for clarifying the upload.

    Seems to be a security issue on your hosting that is preventing the update in your dashboard from appearing

    Hi Kyle.

    I was able to update everything else – standard-themes, plugins, etc.

    In the past there was no problem with updating Cardinal with this hoster (it´s Hosteurope). I don´t think that they changed anything.

    What do you think might be the thing my hoster can do?

    Hi,
    Please install this plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/background-update-tester/. Once the plugin is installed and activated, visit Dashboard > Updates again. The plugin will automatically test your site and display the reason(s) automatic updates are failing. Copy the plugin’s message and submit a ticket to your web host.
