I haven’t updated the site for a while, and now when I try and upload an image I get this error message:

Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/2014/07. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

I had noticed spam had somehow been hacked into my blog posts, interspersed through the past text was semi-gibberish with links. Not sure how this happened but I’m going to change my password asap after this issue is resolved.

Please fix the upload problem or let me know what I need to do?

It seems to permission issue. Please refer this tutorial http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-fix-image-upload-issue-in-wordpress/ or contact at hosting provider.
