Hi there,
a few translations are missing/broken in the de_DE German translation for woocommerce cart and checkout.
Even though I have added the translation for “Shipping and Handling” via poedit, it is not shown on the page.
I could use the replace plugin, but this does not work for checkout as this is a dynamic page.
Maybe, there is a problem with Woocommerce Germanized Plugin, which I need for a legally correct shop.
Cheers,
ChrisAugust 19, 2015 at 3:17 pm #205424Hi,
can you provide some specific words that you are having problems to translate?
Do you have the latest translation files from Woocommerce German plugin?-Rui
August 21, 2015 at 12:11 pm #206144Hey Rui,
the specific words are: “Cart Subtotal”, “Shipping and Handling” and “Order Total” in the Shopping Cart and “Shipping and Handling” in the Checkout. Everything else seems to translate just fine.
I have updated all translations to the current version.Best,
ChrisAugust 24, 2015 at 6:18 am #206558Hi,
Please try to use this plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/real-time-find-and-replace/. Hope it should help you.
Thanks
MohammadAugust 24, 2015 at 8:20 am #206589Hi,
as I wrote earlier, I tried that plugin. However, it cannot change the text of the checkout modal where you select the payment method. This must be generated after the plugin tranlates. So, I can’t start the shop without these phrases being reconnected to the translation file. Where is this connection being coded? I could look for it myself.
Thanks,

August 25, 2015 at 11:49 am #207169Hi,
Can you check your theme languages actually have a translation and they have not been overwritten with an update?
Example:
/wp-content/themes/dante/language/de_DE.po:11141 11142 #: woocommerce/cart/cart-shipping.php:22 11143: msgid "Shipping and Handling" 11144 msgstr "" 11145 11169 11170 #: woocommerce/cart/cart-totals.php:22 11171: msgid "Cart Subtotal" 11172 msgstr "" 11173 #: woocommerce/cart/cart-totals.php:69 msgid "Order Total" msgstr ""
Thanks,

Everything looks to be setup as it should be.
Can you temporarily deactivate the plugin, WooCommerce Germanized whilst we test?
Are you using the WPML plugin to do the translations? Full instructions: http://dante.swiftideas.com/documentation/#translation.
Have you read over these instructions also? http://docs.woothemes.com/document/woocommerce-localization/
Thanks,
David.August 27, 2015 at 1:16 pm #208126Hi,
I deactivated the woocommerce germanized plugin for testing. Same problem.
I don’t use WPML as I only need one language which is German.
So, it would be possible to hardcode the strings, but not really nice/clean.
Maybe, you can find out why these strings do not translate while everything else translates just fine. Maybe something has changed during an update which broke the link for the translation on these two pages…
ChrisAugust 28, 2015 at 10:20 am #208368Hi Chris,
Let’s not hard code them, it’s bad practice, we will resolve the issue.
1) Maybe the original language files are out of date. Can you use POEdit to re-save the translations, checking that the strings have a translation also?
2) We should test if disabling the child theme has an effect on this, as you are also loading language files there. Can you do that?
Thanks,
