With image load into media manually or from server using “import from server” plugin 11 copies of image are being created, prior to this 4 images were created. The only change that has been made is the new theme. Is it possible to change the amount of images being created?

I’m afraid not, the theme has several image formats and all of them are necessary among the theme.
