    I created a Team Carousel and love it, but I received complaints from users that they couldn’t scroll past the initial 4 team members. I looked into it and realized something funky.

    When I view the Team Carousel on my Mac laptop screen (retina display) the arrows don’t appear, I am only given the option to swipe – the problem is that most users would never know that was an option, which is why I believe I was getting complaints. But when I drag that same window to my attached Dell monitor (not retina display) the carousel left/right arrows suddenly appear.

    Not sure why that is happening, but is there any way I can make sure that these users see the arrows regardless of what kind of screen they are using?

    Thanks!

    Hi Loren,

    We are replacing the carousel script for the next update with something much cleaner. Here is the css you can use for that update which will show the arrows all the time. Note this won’t work until the update, but we are planning to send it out Monday/Tuesday.

    .carousel-wrap .carousel-prev, .carousel-wrap .carousel-next {
    opacity: 1!important;
    }
    .carousel-wrap .carousel-prev.disabled, .carousel-wrap .carousel-next {
    opacity: 0.5!important;
    }

    Great, thanks.

    I added the script and it makes the arrows permanent on my Dell screen, but they still disappear when I drag that window onto my Retina display laptop screen. Not sure if the update has hit already or not, but I will check back later this week and post here if it’s still an issue.

    Thanks!

    Hi Loren,

    What version are you running, the retina arrow images do exist for me but on your site they are not present: http://firstgraduate.org/wp-content/themes/dante/images/[email protected]

    The images are present on my version, so there looks to be a discrepancy.

    Thanks.

    Thanks David, that must be it! When I drag that open window from a non-retina to a retina screen I do see an icon indicating a missing or broken image appear for just one second.

    I am running 3.10.

    I don’t think I could have erased it but I must have. I can add it back but where can I download the missing image?

    Thank you!

    Hi,

    So it turns out that the image file you suggested was missing (/dante/images/[email protected]) is there. I’m not sure why it doesn’t load when you go to http://firstgraduate.org/wp-content/themes/dante/images/[email protected] (maybe my security settings in WordPress) but it’s there.

    Any other suggestions?

    Hi Loren,

    I would need to look at your files closer. I will need your FTP details, can you add those so we can take a look?

    Thanks,
    David.

    Hi,

    I am having trouble connecting with those details.

    Are you limiting the connections or are the details wrong?

    Thanks,
    David.

    Hey David, I checked the details and I they are correct. Are you using SFTP? I was having trouble in the beginning using the FTP because I didn’t specify that it was SFTP. Just a thought.

    Here is a screen shot of the file, just to show you that it is really there.

    Hi,

    I’m also getting an authentication failure message.
    What’s the content of your htaccess file?

    I think it must have to do with my the security settings for the site. I am temporarily removing them now, so please try the SFTP access again.

    Thanks!

    Hey,

    Not sure what you changed, but the FTP details now work as do your team arrows on my retina display. Can you confirm also?

    Thanks,
    David.
