The Swift Page Builder no longer works correctly, adding a new gallery doesn’t work and display just a ‘.’, when editing an element, pressing ‘Save’ or ‘Cancel’ appears to do nothing the ‘edit’ windows stay open and can only be removed by pressing the ‘Back’ button on the browser several times. I can’t change to the ‘Classic editor’ the button doesn’t appear to do anything, occasionally if I go back into a post that I’ve tried to edit and gone back (using browser back button) the post will load in the ‘Classic’ editor, I can edit and update the post successfully, though not ideal, if I press the ‘Swift Page Builder’ button it will load, but I can no longer return to the ‘Classic’ editor and the ‘Swift Page Builder’ will continue to not function, essentially, once the page builder has loaded nothing works, you can open an edit window but cant cancel or save. It generally seems badly broken, the sites content is fairly static, no additional plugins have been installed, in fact I have disabled most in an effort to resolve this issue. Please help me to resolve this issue.
Thanks,
Mark.December 22, 2015 at 5:37 pm #237120Hi,
This is likely a conflict with another plugin, can you start by testing with this plugin disable: Justified Image Grid
Thanks.
December 22, 2015 at 8:43 pm #237146With respect ‘Justified Image Grid’ has always been installed, only since the most recent ‘Cardinal’ update have I experienced these issues.
For the purpose of testing the theory I did disable the plugin, cleared all caches and checked, however the problem persists.December 22, 2015 at 8:46 pm #237147As I said in my initial post, no new plugins have been installed or recently updated, so any potential conflicts are likely the result of changes introduced in the recent ‘Cardinal’ theme update.
December 23, 2015 at 9:56 am #237184Hi,
Everything seems fine to me. Please clear the browser cache.
Thanks
MohammadDecember 23, 2015 at 10:49 am #237201Ok………
-
PC
All caches cleared…Chrome – Problem persists.
Installed FireFox – Problem persists.
All caches cleared…IE – Problem persists.-
iMac
Cache cleared……..Safari – Problem persists.
Cache cleared……..Chrome – Problem persists. In all browsers, on both a PC and a Mac I am having the exact same issue, so clearly the problem is with the site itself, as the sites content is largely static and the problems only started once I updated the ‘Cardinal’ theme I can only logically conclude that the problem stems in some way from the changes made by that update. I have disabled all plugins that I can given that the site is live and there are very few that remain, all of which have been used since adopting the Cardinal theme well over a year ago without any problems.
Could you please explain your statement “Everything seems fine to me. Please clear the browser cache.”, what exactly have you checked to reach this conclusion? Additionally, I had already stated I’d cleared ALL caches.
Thanks,
December 23, 2015 at 11:02 am #237203Hi,
I am testing your page builder on this page: http://www.dog-ease.co.uk/page-builder-test/
The Page Builder loads fine, it can add/edit content and the page saves correctly.
Can you please create a screen video detailing your issue?
Thanks.
December 23, 2015 at 11:04 am #237204Hi,
I can add/edit any swift page builder element.
Thanks
MohammadDecember 23, 2015 at 11:15 am #237206Please try to edit the ‘Christmas Funny Photo Competition 2015’ post, this post is the only one that’s been made with the previous version of Cardinal, the rest were made with an even older version. Then since your most recent release, the post is totally broken, so I guess knowing this now it’ll be best just to create a new post, to be honest I hadn’t realised that only this specific post was effected, but all the other content/posts were made ages ago and appear to be fine. Even so I think it would be interesting to see what you make of the problem, clearly something strange happened.
Thanks.
December 23, 2015 at 11:30 am #237210Hi,
Again, it’s working for me. http://www.dog-ease.co.uk/wp-admin/post.php?post=12859&action=edit
Please supply some screenshots.
Thanks.
December 23, 2015 at 1:23 pm #237242How can I screenshot a button not doing anything?
If I press the ‘Classic editor’ button for example nothing happens, if I select the ‘Edit’ button the ‘Edit Test Block’ appears but the ‘Cancel’ & ‘Save’ buttons appear to do nothing and the ‘Edit Text Block’ stays open and can only be removed by pressing the browser back buttons.
All the buttons appear to link to the same URL: http://www.dog-ease.co.uk/wp-admin/post.php?post=12859&action=edit#This only happens on that specific post.
Thanks.
December 23, 2015 at 1:35 pm #237244Hi,
Thanks for the detail, that helps me replicate it. I see the issue is caused by a JS error in the console.
I need to deactivate all plugins to isolate the issue. Can you do this?
Thanks.
December 23, 2015 at 1:38 pm #237245Clearly this problem cant be replicated for some inexplicable reason, I’ve even tried on a 3rd PC with a fresh OS install…..same problem, anyway please don’t waste any more time on this, I’ll just create a new post; its all very strange.
Well thanks to you all for trying, have a Great Christmas and an even better New Year!
Thanks.
December 23, 2015 at 1:41 pm #237246Hi,
As it’s only on that post, it could also be related to the content within the post. Have you tested deleting each element and re-testing? Starting with the WP Gallery, I can see that is outputting an error, no galleries found.
Thanks.
December 23, 2015 at 1:51 pm #237247When I updated the theme, not to the most recent one but to the one previous, I created that post, but there seemed to be a bug with adding Galleries, I could add a single image just fine, but a gallery just displayed a ‘.’ instead of the photos, but its still worked ok on the frontend, I checked forum post and could see a couple of others having similar problems so I didn’t create a new thread. The following day the last update came out which I assume may fix the gallery issue, so I updated, after that update the post developed the problem it has now.
Clearly something has just gotten corrupted along the way…..Thanks again for all your efforts, I’ll close this case now, put it down to some random quirky events with a touch of voodoo.
Thanks.
