I bought this theme predominantly due to the super search function but after having a chance to get my hands on it, I’m slightly disappointed. I can’t seem to be able to:

    1) Limit the categories that can be selected (you either give the user choice for all categories or none). In the demo theme I see some categories are not included somehow like ‘wallet’ so I would like to replicate that somehow.

    2) There is no option to for example pick a single category for one of the fields and let the user pick from subcategories of that specific category

    3) There is no and/or functionality (seems all conditions have to apply).

    4) No way to pick multiple attributes or categories from one drop down.

The only way to get functionality out of this feature seems to be for someone to entirely structure their site around attributes.

What I want to know is what the developer’s plans are for this feature – because I will need to design my site architecture accordingly.

Alternatively if you can give me some hints on where/how I can go about tweaking the theme so that only certain categories show up in the category dropdown section it would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

    1. All the parent categories will display there. Wallet is the sub category of Accessories.
    2, 3, 4 No such options.

You can find it here in includes\swift-framework\sf-content-display\sf-header.php sf_super_search is the function. But it is hard to tweak the settings.

I will forward this to the developer, and inform him about this features.

    Thanks,
    laranz.

    Hi there,

Thanks for the feedback. The feature is in it’s first version, and we wanted to not over complicate things too much to start off with. We are still planning development for it, so will take your feedback into account.

As Laranz said, the categories dropdown only shows parent categories, so any sub will be hidden.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for the update. It’s good to know this function is being worked on, as it’s not something I have seen available anywhere whether it be as a WordPress themes or plugin. I think if you could just provide a way to manually select which product categories (or subcategoies/attributes) are included or excluded per dropdown box, that would already elevate this feature to a whole other level.

Cheers and keep up the great work!
