Hi,
I have been trying to get SPB assets to work within a widget in a sidebar. So I created a few assets (placed them within tabs), went into the classic editor, copied the code and pasted it into a text widget…
The formatting/styling is a bit of mess as you can see in my screen-cast.
Any way of resolving this?
Thanks

Where did I say the issue was resolved?.
November 11, 2014 at 6:25 pm #127442Hi,
Not sure but I think they are not prepared to be used in the sidebar like that.
You can create a sidebar using a column and placing inside a SPB Section has the sidebar content and can be used in several places.Like in the attached image

-RuiNovember 20, 2014 at 11:59 am #129681Hey,
I am wondering if this issue is being looked into?.
Rui’s suggestion of using SPB sections can work quite well but has big limitations.
#1. Ed is hopefully working on a fix/new feature to allow sidebars to be displayed on the event listings page (events calendar plugin) . In that scenario, i could not use spb sections and could not replicate the code using a text widget as already outlined above. (shortcodes don’t work properly in widgets/sidebars)
#2. It’s OK for me when I am initially developing a site to implement spb sections on every page. However, when handed over to a client, I can’t expect them to know or be able to implement the spb section on every new page and/or post they make.
Ideally I could just go into meta options and set a default sidebar for every page and post. Then I would add the necessary widgets and shortcodes to that sidebar. That would be a fully automated option for the client.
As it stands, I can’t use tabs etc in widgets/sidebars so the above is not possible.
Any chance of getting swift shortcodes working in widgets/sidebars soon?
Thanks

I’m afraid the page builder assets are only designed to be used in the page builder itself. I’m sure Ed will look at it, but it’s unlikely that we will be able to support page builder assets in sidebars as it requires a certain setup of html for the layouts, things like asset containers, rows etc. Just adding the shortcodes to the sidebar wont work

November 21, 2014 at 11:09 am #129977I understand. I didn’t think it would be an easy fix.
Just makes it very hard to retain continuity throughout the site when you cant use shortcodes within widgets/sidebars.
Hoping some solution is put together.
Thanks.
