    My site hangs when trying to upgrade to 1.8. I have to delete the maintenance file to get my site back.

    This happened on the last upgrade too, however, earlier upgrades seemed to cause no problem. What could cause this?

    Thanks Kyle. It worked though it doesn’t explain why it hangs in maintenance mode. Updating plugins does not cause this problem. Any idea?

    Not had this problem on our installs, possibly an issue with your server. Could be a number of things. Let us know if it happens again
