Hello I have a problem with the ‘Shop- with left sidebar’

‘Shop – with left sidebar’ from the demo content is not showing the same sidebar. The one with Brands, Size, Colour. Where you can filter by clicking and also undo the clicking. Instead it was showing Pages, Categories, Archives…etc. in the sidebar. So I went to widgets and threw those all out and starting trying to find the right one. I felt that ‘Woocommerce Layered Nav’ might be it. But it doesnt seem to work. At least it doesnt show up after putting a title and saving.

Another thing about the Shop, is that I cant see the content of the ‘Shop’ under ‘Pages’. Even if I click on swift builder. It gives me the message : Welcome to your visual preview area…
You don’t have any content at the moment. But when I View the page its all there, except the left sidebar Im wanting of course. (It does however show content of the ‘Shop- full width’ page)

    Hi

For the filters like in our demo, you need to set up attributes for your products, then the WooCommerce layered nav will display the filters (attributes)

Please make sure you have the page set as the shop page in WooCommerce Settings > Products

    Hi, Kyle

Thanks for your answer. The page is set as the shop page.

When I went to Products > Attributes (earlier), it showed the demo content attributes so I had thought that it probably wasn’t the issue, although I had noticed that there was no name for the attributes, only a slug, so I gave the attributes names but that didn’t work either. (should there be a name, does it matter?)

So, now I created a new attribute and tried adding a product, and it showed up along with the ‘Size’ demo content attribute. Which I dont understand why (yet), but well, something is working which is great. Thank you for that.

Im just curious to know why the demo content doesn’t work though? Have any idea why?
Also, did you know why the Shop page content doesn’t show in Pages?

Because I am new at this, I wanted to pick all the pages I wanted for my site and get everything to work and after achieving that, I would start swapping the demo content with my own. Is that a bogus way of going about building my website?

    Hi

The demo content should work fine, along with the attributes, but only if you have configured all of the settings correctly. Please provide me with a link and login via private reply so that I can look at the products and see if there is anything missing.

With WooCommerce, you will have a my account page, shopping cart etc which are created automatically, then you need to create a blank page and set that page to your shop page, WooCommerce will import your products onto that page. Then you will have archive pages for things like categories, which you will not have much control over.

    Hope everything makes sense
