    Hello!

In Cardinal it is possible to uncheck “show page title”. I have many pages created like this, using “naked header. When I look at the page code in Chrome, it seems that these pages don’t have a H1 heading.

So in this case, do I need to insert H1 somewhere in page content (for better SEO)? It is best SEO practice to use only one H1 -heading and it is inserted automatically when “show page title” is checked.

Just wanted to make sure, if I need to use H1 tag in content in this case.

    Hi

You can chose to show/hide page title on pages, page title uses h1. Unfortunately we are not experts in SEO, everyone has their own preferences

    Hi,

If I have “show page title” UNCHECKED on page –> I don’t seem to have H1 either on page. So I need to use H1 in content somewhere (for SEO best practice). Am I right?

    Hi @rhodez

Yes that is correct. I’m thinking that it would make sense to add a hidden title for SEO purposes – will see if I can add this before the update tonight.

    Thanks,

    Yea,

Page Title (metadata) is even more important! Having no title on page is very bad for seo. Also make sure this “hidden title” won’t conflict with title inserted with seo plugin, such as WordePress Seo by Yoast (industry standard). Many usera use a seo plugin to add custom titles.

    Hi @rhodez,

Didn’t manage to get this into the update last night, but will for the hotfix tonight. It won’t affect plugins, it will still be the same page heading, just hidden.

    Ok!

Same page heading = title + h1, but hidden?

I’m not an SEO expert but as far as I understand, Google doesn’t like tricks like hiding the h1. Title is metadata so it is “hidden” anyways. BUT H1 should be visible on page, just plain normal with no tricks.

    Yes – just sorted this.

As far as I’m aware, Google goes on source.. not styling. I’m confused as to how else you’d want to hide the title but still have it shown…?

    Well,

Google knows styling a bit too. Like if you try cheap tricks like adding white text on a white background or set “display: none” to the h1 –> they will punish the site. I’d say it is not a safe bet to try out anything like this.

So this means: when unchecking “page title”, add H1 manually to the page content. Just my two cents.

    Hi,

So I guess in this case, when you uncheck the title in a specific page you can add an H1 element in the content with your desired text. This way you don’t have a title but will have an H1 in your content.
