Is there an reliable way to reduce the width of the content in the entire theme from 1170px to 970px?

I’m finding the 1170px too wide.

I tried this but it seemed to make white areas show on page edges where a background color was used, like parallax etc.
```
.container {
        width: 970px;
}
```

Hi,

Sorry i am afraid it is not possible to simply change the value of the container and make everything work. A lot of css conflicts will arise . So it is not recommended.
